and this is sad news from the upper west. The smart, dark, clubby, candle-lit, old school establishment Café des Artiste see the New York Times article: Downturn Catches Up to Cafe Frozen in Time by Cara Buckley is closed (I detest the word shuttered).
Perhaps this gives Graydon Carter gets another stab at a fairytale spot with fabulous murals. To boot, my Midwestern grandmother ate their (she’s 85 and conservative) and loved the joint even in the presence of the lovely nudes. My point; it was a universal place.

We just dined here for a pre-theatre dinner on 6/27/2009. It was a nostalgic evening. From here we walked to Lincoln Center to see the revival of South Pacific!
