1985-2008. the beginning of the end for the meatpacking as i knew it. the bad news as you know it: Florent closed it’s doors after having thrown down in the same spot for 25 years. Yes, the landlord wanted more money (shocker). The good news: Restaurant Florent is still up giving me hope and of course, nostalgia. everyone has had a meal (late late night or brunch) at Florent. the owner, Florent Morellet, hip and on the west side scene pre- Keith McNally and the arrival of Pastis.
The old, new york still lives on in memory and perhaps a reincarnation soon…in the not to distant future.
